February is Seattle Museum Month, and the city’s museums and hotels have collaborated on an ingenious endeavor. Throughout the month, visitors who check into any one of 57 participating hotels—from Seattle’s only waterfront hotel, aptly named The Edgewater, to the Edwardian-inspired Kimpton Palladian Hotel—will be granted access to 40 of the city’s top museums for 50 percent of the usual price.
The offer, which benefits up to four guests staying in one room, provides travelers with the opportunity to affordably visit some unique exhibits in the Puget Sound region during their hotel stay. At check-in, guests simply request a Seattle Museum Month packet. The packet contains a detailed map of participating museums as well as a guest pass that, upon presentation at entry, will grant guests half-price admission.
The Puget Sound region is home to some incredible museums, from the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit, which sits in the Seattle Center just under the city’s iconic Space Needle landmark, to the ever-contemporary Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), which from February 1 through March 18 will host Bowie by Mick Rock, a gallery featuring rare photographs, performance footage, and interviews that capture Bowie’s creativity and charisma.
During winter in the Pacific Northwest, it’s never a bad idea to plan an indoor activity (unless, that is, you enjoy freezing temperatures and consistent rain or snowfall). But half-price access to top tier exhibits in a rapidly modernizing city with a thriving arts scene? That sounds like a deal to be excited about in any kind of weather.
